Courtney Washburn-Marcheski is the Executive Chef and Proprietor of The Cupcake Killer — a boutique bakery redefining what dessert can be for Harford and Cecil counties in Maryland.

A graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Denver, Colorado, Courtney formalized a craft she had spent years passionately perfecting: the art of scratch baking with fresh, seasonal, and premium ingredients. But her education began long before any classroom. It began with an instinct for nourishment, a reverence for quality, and a belief that food — made with intention — has the power to mark a moment forever.

Before bringing her talents east, Courtney built an enviable résumé as a private chef to some of the most distinguished names in entertainment and business, working in Aspen, Colorado, and Los Angeles, California. That world sharpened her palate, raised her standards, and deepened her conviction that exceptional ingredients and masterful technique are non-negotiable.

When she relocated to Maryland, she fell in love with the region's vibrant seasonal bounty — and recognized a gap worth filling. The area deserved something more: a refined, imaginative bakery where every cake tells a story and every bite is worth remembering.

Today, The Cupcake Killer is the realization of that vision. Specializing in elaborate scratch-baked cakes and distinctive specialty desserts, Courtney crafts elevated experiences for life's most meaningful celebrations — where unparalleled taste, artistry, and style come together to create something truly unforgettable.
